This new rendition of the #5S bow is based on the three bows in the Hofburg in Vienna. Two of those bows are nearly identical and were made for MaximailinI, Holy Roman Emporor, in about 1490. The third bow was made for Louis XII of France at about the same time. Though spanish in style, Maximailin's bows appear to have been made in what is now Austria. The #5S is a very handsome, distinctive slender bow, with the stocks tapering ahead and behind the lock. The tail of the stock is slightly gabled like a rooftop.
